DRI International was founded in 1988 as the Disaster Recovery Institute in order
to develop a base of knowledge in contingency planning and the management of risk,
a rapidly growing profession.
Today DRI International administers the industry's premier educational and certification
programs for those engaged in the practice of business continuity planning and management.
Very few companies have earned DRI's classification as a Certified Business
Continuity Vendor (CBCV), however more than 3,500 individuals throughout
the world maintain professional certification through DRI International.
Certification and establishing a common body-of-knowledge enhance the profession
of Business Continuity Management. To this end, DRII's goals are to:
-
Promote
a base of common knowledge for the business continuity planning/disaster recovery
industry through education, assistance, and publication of the standard resource
base.
-
Certify
qualified individuals and companies in the discipline.
-
Promote
the credibility and professionalism of certified individuals and companies.
Code of Ethics: DRII requires all of its certified professionals to adhere to a
strict code of ethics - recertification demands continuous commitment.
Professional Practices: DRII established the industry's international standard with
the Professional Practices for Business Continuity Planners.
DRII sets criteria for evaluating the minimum acceptable level of knowledge and
experience for attaining professional certification. The "Professional Practices
for Business Continuity Planners" forms the foundation for DRII courseware,
the qualifying certification examination, and for the interview/application submitted
for review by the Certification Commission.
